Data controller
This notice is issued by the Yıldız Technical University Blockchain Club under Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK). The club is the data controller for personal data submitted through the contact and membership application forms on this site.
Personal data we process
The contact form processes your full name, email address and message. The membership application form processes your full name, email address, department/year and application text. Each record also stores the submission date and the site language you were using. Beyond that, and only if you consent to analytics, data such as the pages you visit and your browser information is processed (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
Cookies and analytics
The only non-essential tool on this site is Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC; it is used for aggregate statistics such as visitor counts and which pages are read. Unless you accept in the banner shown on your first visit, Google Analytics is never loaded, not a single request is sent to Google, and no cookie is written to your browser. If you accept, cookies whose names begin with “_ga” are stored, and the page addresses you visit, the referring address, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device information are sent to Google. Advertising and personalisation measurement stays switched off in every case. You can change your decision at any time from the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of the page; declining also deletes any “_ga” cookies that were stored earlier.
Purpose of processing
Data is processed solely to review messages and applications, to get back to you, and to run club activities. It is not used for marketing, and it is never sold or transferred to third parties. Analytics data is reviewed only in aggregate, to understand which parts of the site draw interest and to improve it.
Legal basis
Processing is based on your explicit consent under Article 5 of the KVKK. You may withdraw the consent you gave when submitting the form at any time, in which case your records are deleted. Analytics cookies also rely on your explicit consent: choosing “Decline” in the banner means they never start, and you can withdraw consent later from the “Cookie preferences” link.
International transfer
Form records are stored in Google Sheets and Google Apps Script, provided by Google LLC; notification and confirmation emails are sent through the same infrastructure. Your data is therefore processed on Google servers outside Türkiye, and submitting the form also covers your consent to this transfer. The forms are also protected against bot submissions by Turnstile, a service provided by Cloudflare, Inc.; during this check your IP address and browser information are processed on Cloudflare servers outside Türkiye. Turnstile does not use cookies, and this data is only used to determine whether a submission was made by a bot. If you consent to analytics, the analytics data listed above is also processed on Google servers outside Türkiye; if you do not consent, no data reaches Google Analytics at all.
Retention period
Contact messages are kept for at most one year. Membership applications are kept for the duration of your membership and for at most one year after it ends. Records are deleted once the period expires.
Your rights
Under Article 11 of the KVKK you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information about it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to the processing.
